Extraction as a Practice of Colonialism and Gender

As the members of Parrhesia Collective, we discussed the colonial practice of extraction through our social media posts and tried to deepen its repercussions on gender roles. Since we wanted to take this discussion further, we invited Armenian women to an interactive workshop. In this workshop, we examined the emotional burden and labor of complying with the requirements of gender roles in the professional, daily and/or domestic lives of Armenian women, and the usurped indigenous practices and deepen this concept. By staying true to the structure of the story circle method, we gave importance to sharing the stories of labor, emotions, knowledge, body and resource exploitation that we are exposed to in our daily and professional lives as women, as well as listening to each other's narratives in an active and non-judgmental way.
